5 Short title, repeal, extent and commencement.

This Act may be cited as the Indecent Displays (Control) Act 1981.

The enactments mentioned in the Schedule to this Act are hereby repealed to the extent specified in the third column of that Schedule.

This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland.

As respects Scotland, nothing in this Act (except to the extent provided by it) affects—

any rule of law relating to shameless indecency or to the publication of obscene works; or

section 51 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982

This Act shall come into force at the expiration of a period of three months, beginning with the day on which this Act is passed.
