SCHEDULE 9 Minor and Consequential Amendments

The Railway Regulation Act 1842 (c. 55)

In section 9 of the Railway Regulation Act 1842 (gates at level crossing to be kept closed across road)—

a

for the words “any turnpike road, or any other highway or statute labour road for carts or carriages, in Great Britain” there shall be substituted the words “the carriageway of a public road (within the meaning of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984)”; and

b

for the words “turnpike or other road” and “turnpike or other roads”, wherever either expression occurs, there shall be substituted the word “carriageway”.
