Inquiries

139 Holding of inquiries.

Without prejudice to any express provision in this Act in that regard, the Secretary of State may hold an inquiry—

a

in connection with any matters as to which he is under this Act authorised to act; or

b

for the purpose of determining any matter which he is required under this Act to determine.

subsections (2) to (8) of section 210 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 shall apply to an inquiry under subsection (1) above as they apply to a local inquiry under that section.

The M1Tribunals and Inquiries Act 1971 shall apply to an inquiry under subsection (1) above as that Act applies to a statutory inquiry held by the Secretary of State.
