This Act may be cited as the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984.

Subject to subsection (3) below, this Act, except this section, shall come into force on 1st January 1985 (in this Act referred to as “the commencement of this Act”).

The following provisions of this Act shall come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by order appoint, and different purposes and for different areas—

• section 36 to 40;

• section 126 and Schedule 7;

• section 156(3) and Schedule 11 in so far as they relate to Schedule 10 to the M1Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

This Act applies to Scotland only.
