F4References in the M1Fire Services Acts 1947 to 1959 and in any other enactment to a fire authority, or to a fire authority constituted by or for the purposes of the Fire Services Act 1947, shall be construed in accordance with sub-paragraph (1) above.
(3)
In section 4 of the said Act of 1947 for the words “the council of every county” there shall be substituted the words “the council of every non-metropolitan county”.

In the M2Metropolitan Fire Brigade Act 1865 the references to the Metropolitan Board of Works (which, by virtue of section 48(3) of the M3London Government Act 1963, are to be construed as references to the Greater London Council) shall be construed as references to the F5London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority.

The functions of a local authority under section 73 of the M6Public Health Act 1961 (derelict petroleum tanks) shall be functions—

elsewhere, of the county council,
and references in that section, and in the provisions of that Act applied by it, to a local authority shall be construed accordingly.

In section 9 of the M7Celluloid and Cinematograph Film Act 1922 at the end of the definition of “local authority” there shall be inserted the words “and in a metropolitan county means the fire authority”.
