“the 1984 Act” means the M1Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984;

“parking place”, “traffic sign” and “road” have the meanings assigned to them respectively by sections 32(4)(b), 64(1) and 142(1) of the 1984 Act;

“local authority” means the council of a metropolitan district or London borough; and

references to a London borough include references to the City and references to the council of a London borough include references to the Common Council.
