(1)Where a person is charged before a magistrates’ court with—
(a)murder, manslaughter [F1, corporate manslaughter] or infanticide;
(b)an offence under [F2section 1 [F3, 2B][F4, 3ZB] or 3A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (dangerous driving [F5, careless driving][F6, unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured drivers] or careless driving when under the influence of drink or drugs)]; F7. . .
(c)an offence under section 2(1) of the M1Suicide Act 1961 [F8(encouraging or assisting suicide) in connection with a death][F9; or
(d)an offence under section 5 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004 [F10of causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable adult],]
the [F11designated officer for] the court shall inform the coroner who is responsible for holding an inquest into the death of the making of the charge and of the result of the proceedings before that court.
(2)Where a person charged with—
(a)murder, manslaughter [F12, corporate manslaughter] or infanticide;
(b)an offence under [F13section 1 [F14, 2B][F15, 3ZB] or 3A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (dangerous driving [F16, careless driving][F17, unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured drivers] or careless driving when under the influence of drink or drugs)];F7. . .
(c)an offence under section 2(1) of the M2Suicide Act 1961 [F18(encouraging or assisting suicide) in connection with a death][F9; or
(d)an offence under section 5 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004 [F19of causing or allowing the death of a child or vulnerable adult],]
is [F20sent] for trial to the Crown Court, the appropriate officer of the Crown Court at the place where the person charged is tried shall inform the coroner of the result of the proceedings before that court.
(3)Where the Director of Public Prosecutions has under section 16(1)(b) above requested a coroner to adjourn an inquest, then, whether or not the inquest is adjourned as a result, the Director shall—
(a)inform the coroner of the result of the proceedings before the magistrates’ court in the case of the person charged as mentioned in that paragraph; and
(b)if that person is [F21sent] for trial to the Crown Court, inform the coroner of the result of the proceedings before that court.
