It shall be the duty of every local weights and measures authority to enforce the provisions of section 214 of this Act within their area; and such an authority shall, whenever the F4appropriate authority so directs, make to F5the appropriate authority a report on the exercise of their functions under this section and section 214 of this Act in such form and containing such particulars as F6the appropriate authority may direct.

Nothing in this section shall be taken as authorising a local weights and measures authority in Scotland to institute proceedings for an offence.
