Part VI Third-Party Liabilities

General

160 Regulations.

(1)

The Secretary of State may make regulations for any purpose for which regulations may be made under this Part of this Act and for prescribing anything which may be prescribed under this Part of this Act and generally for the purpose of carrying this Part of this Act into effect.

In this Part of this Act “regulations” means regulations under this section and “prescribed” means prescribed by regulations.

(2)

In particular, but without prejudice to the generality of subsection (1) above, the regulations may make provision—

(a)

as to forms to be used for the purposes of this Part of this Act,

(b)

as to applications for and the issue of certificates of insurance F1... and any other documents which may be prescribed, and as to the keeping of records F2. . . and the providing of particulars of them or the giving of information with respect to them to the Secretary of State or a chief officer of police,

(c)

as to the issue of copies of any such certificates or other documents which are lost or destroyed,

(d)

as to the custody, production, cancellation and surrender of any such certificates or other documents, F3. . .

for or in connection with the transmission or making available of certificates of insurance as described in section 147(1A)(a) or (b) of this Act, and

(e)

for providing that any provisions of this Part of this Act shall, in relation to vehicles brought into Great Britain by persons making only a temporary stay in Great Britain, have effect subject to such modifications and adaptations as may be prescribed.
