Public authorities
25Power to specify public authorities by order
(1)
In this Part of this Act “public authority” means a person specified in an order made by the Department.
(2)
The order may provide for a person to be a public authority for all or any of the purposes of this Part of this Act.
(3)
The Department shall not exercise the power conferred by this section so that a person becomes a public authority for any of the purposes of this Part of this Act unless the person is—
(a)
a Minister of the Crown or the head of a Northern Ireland department,
(b)
a body created by a statutory provision within the meaning of the M1Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 or the holder of any office so created, or
(c)
a person appearing to the Department to exercise functions of a public nature.
