Deputy Child Support Commissioners

The F4First Minister and deputy First Minister, acting jointly, may appoint persons to act as Child Support Commissioners F5for Northern Ireland (but to be known as deputy Child Support Commissioners F5for Northern Ireland) in order to facilitate the disposal of the business of Child Support Commissioners F5for Northern Ireland.

A deputy Child Support Commissioner F6for Northern Ireland shall be appointed—

from among persons who are barristers or solicitors of not less than the number of years’ standing specified in section 23(2); and

b

F1subject to sub-paragraph (2A) for such period or on such occasions as the F8First Minister and deputy First Minister think fit.

F22A

No appointment of a person to be a deputy Child Support Commissioner F9for Northern Ireland shall be such as to extend beyond the date on which he reaches the age of 70; but this sub-paragraph is subject to section 26(4) to (6) of the Judicial Pensions and Retirement Act 1993 (power to authorise continuance in office up to the age of 75).

Paragraph 2 applies to deputy Child Support Commissioners for Northern Ireland, but paragraph 3 does not apply to them.
