Benefit terms
18 Terms on which benefits are available.

The terms on which an incorporated friendly society provides any benefit shall be—
a
specified in its rules; or
b
determined in a manner specified in its rules.

If the terms on which a benefit is provided are not specified in the society’s rules, the society—
a
shall make copies of them available free of charge to members of the society at every office of the society; and
b
shall send, free of charge, copies of them to any member of the society who demands them.

If, on demand made of it under subsection (2) above, a society fails, in accordance with that subsection, to make available or, as the case may be, within 7 days of the demand, to send to a person a copy of the terms on which a benefit is provided, the society shall be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.

Schedule 9 to this Act shall have effect in relation to nominations by members of incorporated friendly societies and related matters.
