(1)This section applies to information which is held for the purposes of functions relating to contributions, [F3health in pregnancy grant,] statutory sick pay or statutory maternity pay [F4or functions under Part III of the Pensions Act]—
(a)by the Inland Revenue, or
(b)by a person providing services to them, in connection with the provision of those services.
[F5(2)Information to which this section applies may, and subject to subsection (2A), must if an authorised officer so requires, be supplied—
(a)to the Department, or
(b)to a person providing services to the Department,
for use for the purposes of functions relating to social security, child support or employment or training.
(2ZA)Information to which this section applies may, and subject to subsection (2A), must if an authorised officer so requires, be supplied—
(a)to the Secretary of State, or
(b)to a person providing services to the Secretary of State,
for use for the purposes of functions relating to social security or employment or training.]
[F6(2A)An authorised officer may not require the supply under subsection (2) [F7or (2ZA)] of information for use for the purposes of functions relating to employment or training.]
(3)In [F8this section]“authorised officer” means an officer of the Department or the Secretary of State authorised for the purposes of this section by the Department or the Secretary of State.]
