Chapter I Certification

Requirements for certification of occupational pension schemes providing guaranteed minimum pensions

17 Commutation, surrender and forfeiture.

F1A scheme may, in such circumstances and subject to such restrictions and conditions as may be prescribed, provide for the payment of a lump sum instead of a pension required to be provided by the scheme in accordance with section 9 or 13.

Neither section 9 nor section 13 shall preclude a scheme from providing for the earner’s or the earner’s F2widow's, widower’s or surviving civil partner's guaranteed minimum pension to be suspended or forfeited in such circumstances as may be prescribed.
