255KFailure to insure
(1)
The master and operator of a ship are each guilty of an offence if—
(a)
the ship enters or leaves a port in contravention of section 255J, or
(b)
anyone attempts to navigate the ship into or out of a port in contravention of that section.
(2)
A person guilty of the offence is liableF2—
(a)
on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding £50,000, or
(b)
on conviction on indictment, to a fine
F2on summary conviction, or on conviction on indictment, to a fine.
