The Mayor shall in each year appoint a chairman from among the members of the Fire etc Authority.

On a casual vacancy occurring in that office, the Mayor shall as soon as reasonably practicable appoint one of the members of the Fire etc Authority to fill the vacancy.

The Fire etc Authority shall in each year appoint a vice-chairman from among its members.

The appointment under sub-paragraph (3) above shall be the first business transacted at the annual meeting of the Fire etc Authority.

The Fire etc Authority may pay to the chairman and vice-chairman for the purpose of enabling him to meet the expenses of his office such allowance as the Fire etc Authority thinks reasonable.

If the chairman or vice-chairman ceases to be a member of the Fire etc Authority he shall also cease to be chairman or vice-chairman.
