SCHEDULE 4 Standards Board for England
Disqualifications

1
A person is to be disqualified for being appointed as, or for being, a member of the Standards Board if he is disqualified for being, or becoming (whether by election or otherwise), a member of a local authority or a member of a relevant authority.

A person may not be employed as an ethical standards officer if—
a
he is disqualified for being, or becoming (whether by election or otherwise), a member of a local authority or a member of a relevant authority,
b
he is a member or an officer of a relevant authority, or
c
he is a member of a committee, sub-committee, joint committee or joint sub-committee of a relevant authority.

An ethical standards officer is to be treated as being in breach of the terms of his employment if—
a
he becomes disqualified for being, or becoming (whether by election or otherwise), a member of a local authority or a member of a relevant authority,
b
he becomes a member or an officer of a relevant authority, or
c
he becomes a member of a committee, sub-committee, joint committee or joint sub-committee of a relevant authority.

In this paragraph “local authority” has the meaning given by section 270(1) of the M1Local Government Act 1972.
