SCHEDULE 7N.I. Transitional and transitory provisions

Registration of Political Parties Act 1998N.I.

4N.I.In relation to any time before the coming into force of section 21 of the M1Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, paragraph 7(13) of Schedule 1 shall have effect as if for the definition of “nominating officer” there were substituted—

nominating officer” means—

(a)in relation to a registered party, the registered nominating officer or a member of the Assembly nominated by him for the purpose;

(b)in relation to any other political party, the person who appears to the Secretary of State to be the leader of the party, or a member of the Assembly nominated by that person for the purpose;

registered” means registered under the M2Registration of Political Parties Act 1998 or the M3Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000;.
