Section 54 (exercise of functions for purpose of encouraging investment in railways) is amended as follows.

In subsection (1)—

(a)

for “Franchising Director” substitute “ Authority ”, and

(b)

for “his, or (as the case may be) their,” substitute “ their ”.

(3)

In subsection (2)—

(a)

for “Franchising Director” (in both places) substitute “ Authority ”, and

(b)

for “franchising functions of his” substitute “ any of its franchising functions ”.

In subsection (3)—

(a)

for “Franchising Director” substitute “ Authority ”,

(b)
