196 U.K. In section 18 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (interpretation of Chapter I of Part I), for subsection (2) there shall be substituted the following subsection—

“(2) In this Chapter, “protecting the public from serious harm” shall be construed in accordance with section 161(4) of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000.”
