In section 7(1) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (entrenched enactments), insert at the end

and

d

section 1 and section 84 of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2002.

A Bill containing any provision which deals (otherwise than incidentally) with—

a

appointment to, or removal from, a protected judicial office (including the subject matter of section 19),

b

the subject matter of section 12(1), or

c

the subject matter of Part 2,

may not be passed by the Assembly without cross-community support.

“Cross-community support” has the meaning given by section 4(5) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (c. 47).

“Passed”, in relation to a Bill, means passed at the final stage (at which the Bill can be passed or rejected but not amended).
