343 Judges E+W+N.I.

(1) In this Chapter references to a judge in relation to an application must be construed in accordance with this section.

(2) In relation to an application for the purposes of a confiscation investigation [F1 , a money laundering investigation [F2 or a detained cash investigation] [F2 , a detained cash investigation, a detained property investigation or a frozen funds investigation]] a judge is—

(a) in England and Wales, a judge entitled to exercise the jurisdiction of the Crown Court;

(b) in Northern Ireland, a Crown Court judge.

(3) In relation to an application for the purposes of a civil recovery investigation [F3 or an exploitation proceeds investigation] F4 ... a judge is a judge of the High Court.
