(1)

The Education Act 1996 has effect subject to the following amendments.

In section 2 (definition of “secondary education” etc), in subsection (2A)(a), after “F1local authority” there is inserted “ or is an Academy ”.

(3)

In section 316 (children with special educational needs), in subsection (4)(b)(iii), for “a city academy” there is substituted “ an Academy ”.

(4)

In section 483A (special educational needs)—

(a)

in subsection (2)(b), for “a city academy” there is substituted “ an Academy ”, and

(b)

subsection (7) shall cease to have effect.

In section 537 (power to require information), in subsection (7)(b), for “city academy” there is substituted “ Academy ”.

In section 541 (power to require provision of information), in subsection (1)(b), for “city academy” there is substituted “ Academy ”.

In section 550B (detention), in subsection (2)(c), for “city academy” there is substituted “ Academy ”.
