F121Duty to consult lay justices on matters affecting them etc.E+W
(1)The Lord Chancellor [F2and the Lord Chief Justice] must take all reasonable and practicable steps—
(a)for ensuring that lay justices acting in a local justice area are kept informed of matters affecting them in the performance of their duties, and
(b)for ascertaining their views on such matters.
[F3(2)The Lord Chief Justice may nominate a judicial office holder (as defined in section 109(4) of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005) to exercise his functions under this section.]
