A direction—
a
must be given in writing;
b
may be varied by a subsequent such direction.

A direction under section 2(2), (3) or (4)F1or 2A(1), must be given in regulations made by statutory instrument.

A statutory instrument making regulations giving a direction under section 2(2)(a) or (3)F2or 2A(1) is subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.
