(1)

In this Part—

“apprenticeship training” has the meaning given by section 83;

F2“approved English apprenticeship” has the meaning given by section A1(2);

F3“approved steps towards occupational competence” has the meaning given by section F4A2D4;

F3“approved technical education qualification” has the meaning given by section F5A12;

“organised leisure-time occupation” has the meaning given by section 86.

F3technical education qualification” has the meaning given by section F7A12;

In this Part a reference to education within F8the Secretary of State's remit under this Part is a reference to—

(a)

education falling within section 86(1)(a) or (b), and

(b)

organised leisure-time occupation in connection with such education.

In this Part a reference to training within F9the Secretary of State's remit under this Part is a reference to—

(a)

training falling within section 83(1),

F10(aa)

training falling within section 83A(1),

(b)

training falling within section 86(1)(c), and

(c)

organised leisure-time occupation in connection with training falling within section 86(1)(c).

For the purposes of this Part a person is subject to adult detention if the person is subject to a detention order and—

(a)

aged 19 or over, or

(b)

aged under 19 and detained in—

(i)

a young offender institution, or part of such an institution, that is used wholly or mainly for the detention of persons aged 18 and over, or

(ii)

a prison.
