I1I221Reports on international environmental protection legislation

The Secretary of State must report on developments in international environmental protection legislation which appear to the Secretary of State to be significant.

“International environmental protection legislation” means legislation of countries and territories outside the United Kingdom, and international organisations, that is mainly concerned with environmental protection.

The Secretary of State must report under this section in relation to each reporting period.

The reporting periods are—
a
the 2 year period beginning with the day on which this section comes into force, and
b
each subsequent 2 year period.

A report under this section may consider—
a
particular countries, territories or international organisations, or
b
particular aspects of environmental protection,
as the Secretary of State considers appropriate.

A report under this section must be laid before Parliament, and published, as soon as reasonably practicable after the end of the reporting period to which it relates.
