The expression “lien” shall mean and include right of retention; the expression “vendor’s lien” shall mean and include any right of retention competent to the original owner or vendor; and the expression “set off” shall mean and include compensation.

In the application of section five of the recited Act, a sale, pledge, or other disposition of goods shall not be valid unless made for valuable consideration.
