The Superannuation (Fire Brigade and Belfast Fire Force) Transfer Rules 1967

3.—(1) In these Rules the following expressions have the meanings hereby respectively assigned to them, that is to say:—

the Belfast Fire Brigade Superannuation Scheme” means the Scheme for the time being in operation under section 13 of the Fire Services (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 1950;

the Corporation” means the Corporation of the city of Belfast;

the fire authority”, in relation to any person, means the fire authority maintaining the fire brigade in which he ceases or has ceased to serve as mentioned in Rule 1(1) of these Rules;

the Firemen's Pension Scheme” means the Scheme for the time being in operation under section 26 of the Fire Services Act 1947;

regular fireman” means a member of a fire brigade in Great Britain of a class prescribed by the Firemen's Pension Scheme for the purposes of section 2 of the Fire Services Act 1951.

(2) In these Rules a reference to any enactment is a reference to that enactment as amended or extended by any subsequent enactment.

(3) For the interpretation of these Rules—

(a)the Interpretation Act 1889shall apply as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament;

(b)notwithstanding section 31 of the said Act of 1889, the definition of the expression “pension” in section 17(1) of the Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1948 shall not apply.
