The Visiting Forces Act (Application To Colonies) (Amendment No. 2) Order 1967

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 15(1) of the Visiting Forces Act 1952, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

Citation, construction and publication

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Visiting Forces Act (Application to Colonies) (Amendment No. 2) Order 1967.

(2) This Order shall be construed as one with the Visiting Forces Act (Application to Colonies) Orders 1954 to 1967(1) and shall be included among the Orders which may be cited as the Visiting Forces Act (Application to Colonies) Orders 1954 to 1967.

(3) This Order shall be published—

(a)in the Bahama Islands, by the Governor, acting in his discretion, in the Official Gazette;

(b)in the Colony of Seychelles, by the Governor in the Government Gazette; and

(c)in the British Indian Ocean Territory, by the Commissioner in such manner as he may direct.

Amendment of Schedule 1 to Visiting Forces Act (Application to Colonies) Order 1954

2.  Schedule 1 to the Visiting Forces Act (Application to Colonies) Order 1954(2) is amended by the insertion in the appropriate alphabetical order of the words “Bahama Islands”, “Colony of Seychelles” and “The British Indian Ocean Territory”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order extends to the Bahama Islands, the Colony of Seychelles and the British Indian Ocean Territory the provisions of the Visiting Forces Act 1952, subject to the adaptations, modifications and exceptions set out in Schedule 2 to the Visiting Forces Act (Application to Colonies) Order 1954.
