The Minister of Housing and Local Government and the Secretary of State, acting jointly, in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 41(4) of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby order as follows:—
1. This order may be cited as the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 Commencement Order 1967, and shall come into operation on 1st January 1968.
2. Part I, except sections 34 to 36, of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967, shall, subject to the provisions of the said section 34, come into force on 1st January 1968.

This order appoints 1st January 1968 as the date on which Part I of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 (except sections 34 to 36 which came into force on the passing of the Act), is to come into force. This Part of the Act confers rights on tenants occupying leasehold houses under long tenancies at low rents, enabling them to acquire the freehold or an extended lease of their houses in certain circumstances, and makes provision for giving effect to these rights.
