The Minister for the Civil Service, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 98(5) and (9) of the Superannuation Act 1965. and article 2(1)(c) of the Minister for the Civil Service Order 1968(1), hereby makes the following Order:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Monopolies Commission) Order 1969, and shall come into operation on 1st May 1969.
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3.—(1) Employment by the Monopolies Commission shall be added to the employments listed in Schedule 8 to the Superannuation Act 1965.
(2) This article shall have effect as from 1st January 1949.

Section 98(4) of the Superannuation Act 1965 provides that service in employments of the kinds listed in Schedule 8 to that Act shall be treated as service in the civil service of the State for the purposes of pensions and other superannuation benefits. This Order adds employment by the Monopolies Commission to the list in that Schedule. Under the powers of Section 98(9) of that Act the Order has retrospective effect as from 1st January 1949.
