Under the Chartered Associations (Protection of Names and Uniforms) Act 1926, an Order in Council may be made on the application of an association incorporated by Royal Charter (not being an association representative of any profession or business) protecting any name, designation, uniform or badge used by that association and specified in the Order, and thereupon it is, subject to the provisions of the Act, an offence to use, without the authority of that association, any such name, designation, uniform or badge. This Order replaces with certain changes the Chartered Associations (Girl Guides Association) Protection Order 1927. It continues the protection afforded to the name “The Girl Guides Association” and protects the special names, designations and badges specified in the Schedule which are now used by the association.
