The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the Secretaries of State respectively concerned with the sea fishing industry in Scotland and Northern Ireland in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 6 and 20(1) of the Sea Fish (Conservation) Act 1967 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, after consultation with the Secretary of State for Trade(1) hereby make the following order:—
Citation and commencement
1. This order may be cited as the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Restrictions on Landing) Amendment Order 1975 and shall come into operation on 19th May 1975.
Interpretation
2. The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
Amendment of Previous Order
3. In Article 2(1) of the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Restrictions on Landing) Order 1972(2) there shall be inserted—
(a)after the definition of “drift-net” the following definition—
““gill net” means
(b)after the word “drift-net” in the definition of “specified method” the words “or other gill net”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order adds to the specified methods of fishing for salmon and migratory trout defined in the Salmon and Migratory Trout (Restrictions on Landing) Order 1972 a further method, namely the method of fishing with any other gill nets. That Order prohibits the landing in Great Britain of salmon and migratory trout caught by a specified method in the Northern part of British fishery limits.
