The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of these regulations as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

In these regulations, “the Act” means the Control of Pollution Act 1974.

Any reference in these regulations to a section by number only is a reference to the section so numbered in the Act.
