PART IPRELIMINARY

Citation, interpretation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Trade Union (Nominations) Regulations 1977.

(2) In these Regulations “trade union” means a trade union as defined in section 28(1) of the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974.

(3) (a) The Interpretation Act 1889 applies to the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies to an Act of Parliament.

(b)The reference in Regulation 10 of these Regulations to the Trade Union Act Amendment Act 1876 shall be construed as including a reference to that Act as amended or extended by the Provident Nominations and Small Intestacies Act 1883, the Friendly Societies Act 1955 and the Administration of Estates (Small Payments) Act 1965.

(4) These Regulations shall come into operation on 13th June 1977.

(5) The Industrial Relations (Nominations) Regulations 1971 shall cease to have effect.
