The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25(1) and 45(1) of the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1972, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance (Convention Countries) Order 1978 and shall come into operation on 23rd March 1978.

It is hereby declared that Switzerland, being a country or territory outside the United Kingdom to which the United Nations Convention on the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance done at New York on 20th June 1956 extends, is a convention country for the purposes of Part II of the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1972.

The Schedule to the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance (Convention Countries) Order 1975 shall be varied by inserting, after the word “Sweden”, the word “Switzerland”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order declares that Switzerland is a convention country for the purposes of Part II of the Maintenance Orders (Reciprocal Enforcement) Act 1972 and adds Switzerland to the list (set out in the Schedule to the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance (Convention Countries) Order 1975) of countries and territories to which the United Nations Convention on the Recovery Abroad of Maintenance, done at New York on 20th June 1956, extends.
