Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1979 and shall come into operation on the expiration of the period of two months beginning with the day on which it is made.

Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which, as amended1, specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended by the insertion in paragraph 1(a) of Part I of that Schedule, after the word “Phenazocine”
, of the word “Phencyclidine”
