TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 8(6) and 12(3) of the Employment and Training Act 1973, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:–
1. This Order may be cited as the Employment and Training Act 1973 (Repeals) Order 1981.
2. Subsections (5) and (6) of section 8, subsection (5) of section 9 and paragraph (c) of subsection (2) and subsection (3) of section 12 of the Employment and Training Act 1973 shall cease to have effect on 22nd May 1981.

This Order terminates sections 8(5)(6) and 9(5) of the Employment and Training Act 1973 (which enable the Manpower Services Commission to perform on behalf of local education authorities functions relating to the careers service and the provision of records of vocational advice for persons attending or leaving educational institutions) and section 12(2)(c)(3) (which imposes a duty on local education authorities to comply with directions of the Secretary of State to provide documents relating to national insurance contributions to persons under 18).
Sections 8(5)(6) and 9(5) have effect in England and Wales only. Similar provisions relating to Scotland are contained in the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 (c. 44). The provisions in section 12(2)(c)(3) have effect in Great Britain.
