Citation, commencement and interpretation1.

(1)

These regulations may be cited as the Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations 1982, and shall come into operation on 6th April 1983.

(2)

In these regulations—

the Act” means the Social Security and Housing Benefits Act 1982;

F1“the Contributions and Benefits Act” means the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992;

F2“income tax month” means the period beginning on the 6th day of any calendar month and ending on the 5th day of the following calendar month;

Part I” means Part I of the Act;

and other expressions, unless the context otherwise requires, have the same meanings as in Part I.

Unless the context otherwise requires, any reference—

(a)

in these regulations to a numbered section or Schedule is a reference to the section or Schedule, as the case may be, of or to the Act bearing that number;

(b)

in these regulations to a numbered regulation is a reference to the regulation bearing that number in these regulations; and

(c)

in any of these regulations to a numbered paragraph is a reference to the paragraph bearing that number in that regulation.
