This Order relates to certain functions exercisable by the Secretary of State for Education and Science in respect of the arts, libraries and museums and the national heritage.
It transfers to the Lord President of the Council—
functions under specified enactments (Articles 2(1) and (3)(a) and (b), 3(3), 4(1) and (2), 5 and 6(1) and Part I of Schedule 1) and
functions in relation to the following institutions, namely, the Arts Council of Great Britain, the British Film Institute, the Crafts Council, the Corporation of the Hall of Arts and Sciences, the National Film and Television School, the National Theatre Board, the Science Museum, the South Bank Theatre Board and the Victoria and Albert Museum (Article 2(2) and (3)(c) and Part II of Schedule 1).
Functions under other specified enactments are transferred so as to be exercisable by one of Her Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State and the Lord President either jointly (Article 3(1)) or concurrently (Articles 3(2), 4(3) and 6(2))
