This Order varies paragraph (1) of the Schedule to the Imperial War Museum Act 1920 in five ways. First, it reduces the membership of the Board of Trustees of the Imperial War Museum (“the Board”) to 20. Second, the Director of the British Museum is no longer to be a member ex officio of the Board. Third, the Secretary of State for Defence is to be the appointing authority for one member of the Board; previously he appointed three members. Fourth, the reference to the Government of Ceylon is now to the Government of Sri Lanka and, fifth, the reference to the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland is omitted in view of the dissolution of the Federation.
