The Administration of Justice Act 1985 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1986

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 69(2) of the Administration of Justice Act 1985, hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1986.

2.  The provisions of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order shall come into force on 12th March 1986 and the provision of that Act specified in Part II of the Schedule shall come into force on 28th April 1986.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force on 12th March 1986 the following provisions of the Administration of Justice Act 1985:

(a) Section 12 and Schedule 3 (establishment of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers and supplementary provisions);

(b) section 2 (in part; examination of solicitors' files in connection with complaints), sections 4 and 5 (conditions imposed on practising certificates), section 7 (preparation of papers for probate by unqualified persons), section 8 and schedule 1 (minor amendments of the Solicitors Act 1974); and

(c) Section 46 (remuneration for work done before the making of legal aid order),

and on 28th April 1986 the following provision of that Act:

(d) Section 50 (power of High Court to appoint substitute for, or to remove, personal representative).
