The Transport Act 1985 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1986

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 140(2) of the Transport Act 1985, and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following order.

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 1985 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1986.

(2) In this Order, “the 1985 Act” means the Transport Act 1985.

Commencement of Provisions

2.  The provisions of the 1985 Act specified in the first column of the Schedule to this Order (which relate to the matters specified in the second column of that Schedule) shall come into operation on 1st April 1986 subject to the limitations (if any) specified in the third column of the Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into force on 1st April 1986 the provisions of the Transport Act 1985 listed in the Schedule (including its Appendix) to the Order. These provisions include those relating to:—

(1) consequential amendments arising from the changed statutory duties of Passenger Transport Authorities and Executives (section 57(6) and Schedule 3, paragraphs 8, 24 and 26);

(2) travel concessions in passenger transport areas (sections 93(8)(b) and 102);

(3) rural bus grants (sections 108 and 109); and

(4) use of bus stations (section 116(1)).

NOTE AS TO EARLIER COMMENCEMENT ORDERS

The following provisions of the Transport Act 1985 have been brought into force by commencement orders made before the date of this Order. Section 107 also comes into force on 1st April 1986 (S.I. 1985/1887).
