The Section 19 Minibus (Designated Bodies) Order 1987

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Section 19 Minibus (Designated Bodies) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 13th August 1987.

Interpretation

2.  In this Order, “the Act” means the Transport Act 1985.

Designated bodies

3.—(1) The bodies specified in column 2 of the Schedule to this Order (who appear to the Secretary of State to be bodies concerned with education, religion, social welfare, recreation, or other activities to the benefit of the community) are hereby designated for the purposes of section 19 of the Act as entitled to grant permits in relation to the use of a small bus.

(2) In addition to granting permits to itself, a body designated by paragraph (1) of this article may, under section 19(3) of the Act, grant permits to classes of bodies specified in relation to the body in column 3 of the Schedule to this Order.

4.  Every designated body shall send to the traffic commissioner for the traffic area in which the principal administration of the body to which the permit is granted is carried on:

(a)a copy of every such permit, and

(b)particulars of every variation or revocation of any such permit

within one month of the grant, variation or revocation as the case may be.
