Citation, construction and commencement.1

This Order may be cited as the St. Helena (Constitution) (Amendment) Order 1987 and shall be construed as one with the St. Helena (Constitution) Order 19663 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Order”).

The principal Order and this Order may be cited together as the St. Helena (Constitution) Orders 1966 to 1987.

This Order shall come into force on such day as the Governor may appoint by proclamation published in the Gazette.
Amendment of sections 4 and 14 of Constitution.2
The Constitution set out in Schedule 1 to the principal Order is amended—
a
in section 4(1)(a)(ii), by substituting for the words “the Treasurer of St. Helena” the words “the Financial Secretary of St. Helena”; and
b
in section 14(1)(b)(ii), by substituting for the words “the Treasurer of St. Helena” the words “the Financial Secretary of St. Helena”.
Transitional.3
The person who, immediately before the commencement of this Order, holds the office of Treasurer of St. Helena shall be deemed to have been appointed, as from the commencement of this Order, to hold the office of Financial Secretary of St. Helena in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and to have taken any necessary oath under the Constitution.
