The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(1), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Secretary of State for the Home Department, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the A13 Trunk Road (Ripple Road, Barking and Dagenham) (Prohibition of Use of Gaps in Central Reservation) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 10th January 1987.
2. In this Order—
“Ripple Road” means that length of the London Tilbury Trunk Road (A13) in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham known as Ripple Road;
“central reservation” means that part of Ripple Road which separates the two carriageways of Ripple Road for the safety and guidance of vehiclesusing that road.
3. Save as provided in article 4 of this Order—
(1) no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed through the gap in the central reservation which lies opposite Pooles Lane, otherwise than from the eastbound carriageway; and
(2) no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed through the gap in the central reservation which lies opposite Morrison Road, otherwise than from the eastbound carriageway.
4. Nothing in this Order shall apply to any vehicle being used for fire brigade, police or ambulance purposes, or to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform.
