The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in relation to England, the Secretary of State for Scotland in relation to Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales in relation to Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1(1) of the Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Act 1967(1) and now vested in them(2), and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Shellfish (Specification of Molluscs) Regulations 1987 and shall come into force on 1st March 1987.
2. Scallops and queens are hereby specified for the purposes of section 1(1) of the Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Act 1967.
In witness whereof the Official Seal of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is hereunto affixed on 5th February 1987.

These Regulations add scallops and queens to the list of shellfish in section 1(1) of the Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Act 1967. This addition enables several or regulated fisheries for these species to be established by order on the sea shore and in the seas adjacent to Great Britain.
1967 c. 83; section 1(1) was amended by the Sea Fisheries Act 1968 (c. 77) section 15(2) and by the Fishery Limits Act 1976 (c. 86) Schedule 2, paragraph 15 and was extended by the Fisheries Act 1981 (c. 29) section 34.
