Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This order—

(a)transfers areas within the county of Nottinghamshire between the borough of Gedling and the district of Newark and Sherwood; and

(b)creates a new parish and parish council of Ravenshead in the borough of Gedling.

The map forming part of this note (page 5) gives a general guide to the areas affected by this order as from 1st April 1987.

Prints of the detailed boundary maps, which are referred to in article 3, may be inspected at the offices of the borough and district councils, and may be inspected at or purchased from the Department of the Environment’s Map Library, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3EB.

The areas transferred from the borough of Gedling to the district of Newark and Sherwood have approximately an area of 36.73 hectares, a population of 18 and a rateable value of £1,307.

The areas transferred from the district of Newark and Sherwood to the borough of Gedling have approximately an area of 792.39 hectares, a population of 3,780 and a rateable value of £345,577.

The new parish of Ravenshead will have approximately an area of 1430.7 hectares, a population of 6,060 and a rateable value of £566,031.

Consequential changes to local government electoral areas are made.

The Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976, mentioned in articles 2(1) and 3, contain further provisions about the effect and implementation of orders such as the present one.
