SCHEDULE IServicemen—Increase of Awards

(1)
In this Schedule a reference to an armed forces award is a reference to an armed forces pension or other award payable in pursuance of a Royal Warrant or other instrument.
(2)
Where such an armed forces award as mentioned in paragraph 1(2), 2(2) or 3(2) is a gratuity, the amount thereof payable for any period shall, for the purposes of the provision in question, be deemed to be the amount which would have been payable for that period in respect of such an annuity as is hereinafter mentioned if, at the date on which the gratuity became payable, it had been applied in the purchase of such an annuity.
- The annuity referred to in this sub-paragraph is an immediate life annuity, dependent on the life of the serviceman, the widow or, as the case may be, the child concerned, granted under Part I of the Government Annuities Act 192997.
